Vic: Accused underworld figure bailed over alleged threats

An alleged underworld figure has been granted bail on charges of threatening to kill
a detective from the Purana taskforce and his wife.

The Purana taskforce is investigating more than 20 gangland murders.

Thirty-three-year-old CARL ANTHONY WILLIAMS of Essendon has been granted bail by the
Melbourne Magistrates Court on a surety of $50,000.

He's been remanded to reappear in court in February next year.

Police opposed the granting of bail because of WILLIAMS' alleged underworld connections.
