NSW: Union investigating Cowra abattoir administration reports
A union is investigating reports the Cowra abattoir .. in central-western NSW .. is
on the verge of being placed in administration.
The abattoir made headlines in March .. when it sacked 29 workers and then offered
some of them their jobs back at a cheaper rate of pay.
The new Office of Workplace Services intervened .. and the abattoir re-hired the sacked
workers .. in the first test of the federal government's Work Choices laws.
The NSW secretary of the Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union .. CHARLIE DONZOW
.. says he's on his way to the abattoir .. and a meeting's planned with an administrator
at midday (AEST).
