NSW: State funeral to be held for Banton at Sydney's Acer arena

Flags will be at half mast on all New South Wales government buildings today .. to
mark the passing of BERNIE BANTON.

Premier MORRIS IEMMA says the flags will be flown at half mast .. in a sign of respect
usually reserved for those who've held public office.

Thousands of people are expected to attend this morning's state funeral for Mr BANTON
.. who took on corporate giant James Hardie to win compensation for asbestos disease
sufferers.

He'll be farewelled at Sydney's Acer Arena .. at Olympic Park in Sydney's west.

The funeral begins at 10.30 am (AEDT).

RailCorp will put on extra train services from Lidcombe to Olympic Park between 9am
(AEDT) and 2pm.
